All applicants must have experience in working with psychological trauma and have a mental health background, either through academic training or professional practice.

The following professions with core training in mental health may be eligible:


Clinical Psychologists*, Counselling Psychologists*, Health Psychologists, Neuro-psychologists, Occupational Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Membership of BPS/ Health Professions Council

* If in final year of training and had placement in psychological trauma


Member/ Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCP)


Accredited by one of the following: British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP), United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP); British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP); Irish Association for Counselling and Therapy (IACT); or Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP)


Accredited by BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy)

Mental Health Nurses

Membership of Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Social Worker Therapist

Membership of the HCPC

General practitioners

Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). Experienced in psychotherapy and psychological trauma and an accredited counsellor or psychotherapist or working towards a psychotherapy accreditation (supervisor’s reference and c.v. required).

Occupational Therapists, Art Therapists

Those with sufficient training and experience working within a mental health setting may be eligible but will need to submit evidence from a supervisor showing clinical skills, and a c.v showing evidence of work with trauma patients.


Accredited members of British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH).

Applicants in final year of professional training

Applicants who are in their final year of training and close to being accredited may be eligible, subject to a reference from the supervisor and submission of a C.V. showing evidence of work with trauma patients.
